Hunters Moon - Full Moon Offer

October’s full moon marks the first of three supermoons this year. A supermoon occurs when the moon reaches the closest point to Earth in its elliptical orbit, making it appear larger and brighter than usual. It also shares the skies with Saturn this month and later in the week with the Pleiades star cluster.

This particular full moon is known as the Hunter’s Moon, a name rooted in the traditions of early farmers and hunters who relied on its light to prepare for the coming winter. Unlike most traditional moon names tied to specific months, the Hunter’s Moon is defined by its timing relative to the autumnal equinox. The full moon closest to the equinox is called the Harvest Moon, while the one that follows is the Hunter’s Moon, appearing in either October or November depending on the year.

Historically, the Harvest Moon helped farmers complete their final crops under the extended moonlight of early autumn evenings. Once the harvest was gathered, hunting season began. Animals ventured into open fields to feed on leftover grain, providing hunters an ideal opportunity to secure meat for the colder months ahead.
